Whole9 30 Day Challenge

It’s been a while…Updates:

  • I’ve been keeping a steady running schedule, but have dropped the ball on Body Pump. :(
  • My daily eats (and drinks) have been less than stellar, but not horrible.
  • My less than stellar eating and drinking has left me feeling a little “mushy” these days…which is why…
  • I’m starting the Whole9’s Whole30 Challenge today.  I first read about it on One Twenty Five, but have been thinking about the whole Paleo/Primal eating thing since reading My Quirky Life.
  • I’ve done my research, reading and prepping before jumping in to make sure I was fairly educated and really wanted to commit.
  • It’s going to be hard to give up wine for 30 days, but I need a challenge.
  • My plan is to give regular update my progress, recipes and challenges.
  • The workout plan I’m going to follow is continuing to run, but add Body Pump back in 2 to 3 days a week.  I really miss strength training.
  • You can follow my workout schedule here

I got new running shoes today!  Mizuno Wave Creation 12’s but I purchased them at our local TRY Sports store so I could try on different brands and see what felt the best. I’m switching to these from my Saucony ProGrid Triumph 7’s. I liked them but they give me a blister on my left arch if I don’t wear thick enough socks. Plus I was due for a new sneakers because I was starting to get shin splints and more aches than usual on my runs!  Looking forward to testing them out tomorrow :)

Admission: I have to run 11 miles tomorrow and I’ll probably have a little too much wine tonight. Saving grace? I can sleep in and THEN run:)

Today’s Run

It went better than expected but did not feel better than expected.  It was hard. But I managed to try to zone out to my awesome playlist and push through.  Finished 5 miles in 42:41.  I can’t be upset with that. But my body pretty much shut down later, I was exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open.  I even went home, got in bed and took a nap after work.  I never do that.  I really hope I’m not getting sick. Especially with the half-marathon only 2 and a half weeks away! I’m drinking airborne as I type!

I’m off for a 5 mile run on my lunch break.  I hope the sun, 55 degree temps, some good music and hard earned sweat get me out of my funky funk that has been lingering all week.
